After a busy first week of school and athletics, I hope everyone is settling into the groove of the new school year! Here is your weekly athletics update with all of the results from last week!
The Varsity Lady Bulldogs Volleyball team went 1-3 on the week, but showed big improvement from game 1 to game 4. The Lady Dogs were defeated by Valdosta and Tift on Tuesday, then fell to Ware County on Thursday before defeating the Brooks County Lady Trojans 2 sets to 0. Congratulations to Coach Jackie King for picking up her first win as the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs.
On the JV level, the girls fell to Valdosta on Tuesday, but rebounded with a 3-0 record in the Valdosta JV Tournament on Saturday! Way to go girls!
Both teams along with the Middle School VolleyDogs will be in action again this week!
After being rained out on Tuesday vs Echols County, the Lady Bulldogs Varsity Softball team defeated Clinch County on Wednesday 8-7 to earn their first win of the year.
The Middle School girls team went 2-1-1 with a doubleheader sweep of Lee County West on Monday, then fell to Cook in game one on Thursday and tied game two.
Both groups are back in action this week at home, be sure to come check them out!
Friday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium, the Dogs fell to the Valdosta Wildcats by the score of 34-7 in the scrimmage. It was great getting everyone under the lights for a dry run (not really if you were there at 7:30!) for the 2023 season. The Dog Walk at 6:15 was awesome with the THS Marching Bulldogs, Red Hots, Diamond Dogs, and THS Cheerleaders bringing the energy for a big crowd of parents and supporters as the Dogs got off the bus and headed to the stadium.
We look forward to a great crowd this Friday night as we host the Brooks County Trojans in the official Season Opener for 2023. Ticket information will be sent out today. Please pay attention to all Parking information for the game. Spectators may enter the stadium on either the home or visitor side and cross to the other side on the Jackson Street end.
